The call came from overseas The wind carried it today Might you have some sympathy Some shelter from the rain Stone bellies, blind hearts Faceless faces in the rain Dead leave the rest to bury The vultures on the wing (Instrumental bridge) No more room (The call) No more room (The call) No more room (The call) No more room The call came from overseas The wind carried it today Might you have some sympathy Some shelter from the rain The call in came from overseas But wind carried it today Might you have some sympathy Some shelter from the rain

You never strayed too far from home Ironed your suitcase and hid from the critics And ate ‘til you couldn’t digest You looked closer, through broken fences Found Bush’s stolen skull, Angie’s harpoon And Mile’s brushes and spoons You saw my manuscript, the one I said I gave up For you and only you If it makes your day, keep it going this way and know that you’re never alone If it makes your day, keep it coming this way Even when the Sun is crying Even when the Sun is crying, you’re never alone I become less and less I hear the train somewhere left of my brain Where no one showed up single file I paid dues that weren’t due yet went to get your free stuff, cut corners and crusts And give you whines and sustenance It’s alright to still Crack a smile, when you’re just the best there ever was There ever was If it makes your day keep it going this way and know that you’re never alone If it makes your day keep it going this way Even when the Sun is dying Even when the Sun is crying – you’re never alone (verse 3) We never strayed too far from home Ironed our suitcase and hid from the critics Til they admired us after we died Let’s fade away,... together Let’s fade away, For we are only ‘We’ this once If it makes your day, keep it going this way and know that you’re never alone If it makes your day, keep it going this way Even when the planet’s crying Even when the Sun is dying Even when the Moon stops shining, and you are flying Never alone

Beautiful dreamer, wake unto me, Starlight and dewdrops are waiting for thee; Sounds of the rude world, heard in the day, Lull'd by the moonlight have all pass'd away! Beautiful dreamer, queen of my song, List while I woo thee with soft melody; Gone are the cares of life's busy throng, Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me! Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me! Beautiful dreamer, beam on my heart, E'en as the morn on the streamlet and sea; Then will all clouds of sorrow depart, Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me, yeah! Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me, yeah!

The first 3 songs came about while I was taking part in an online songwriting course taught by Meg Duffy through the School of Song - thanks to Meg and School of Song for the tools to conjure this music.

The last 2 songs were recorded earlier in the year 2021, a rocked up version of a traditional song, and an improvised Blues instrumental, which is the musical mother from whence most of the music I love sprang.

I hope you enjoy and find some respite or recognition in this music!

about

Mike Hotter Vintage Heads Albany, New York

Room to Land’s songs were developed over the last decade - some inspired by the loss of friends & family members, others by the joys and pressures of marriage and parenthood.
The songs also meditate some on divisions within larger communities and between neighbors - all an attempt to summon the gumption & fortitude we must muster to bridge those gaps.
