about

A version made with my good friend and mentor of sorts, Mitch Elrod - we were roommates at the time of this recording, around 2003.

The song evokes what I felt concerning the events of 9/11, the Wars, and the fact that my younger brother, was in Marine Corps bootcamp at the time.

lyrics

(I'm begging to sleep- I begin to sleep)

It's written in the sky again, you know
over kings and their houses
Indelible ink is spilling down like rain 'cross the levee
It's pouring down the streets again and around their faces
It's scrawled in indelible ink down on their eyelids.

It's spitting in his eyes again, you know, the snake back on his belly
He's ready to ignite again, you know, volcano brimming high

Well I saw it in his smile again, you know, so I called the police
Now the indelible ink is drowning- I'm begging to sleep

I'm begging to sleep
I begin to sleep
I begin to sleep

The songs also meditate some on divisions within larger communities and between neighbors - all an attempt to summon the gumption & fortitude we must muster to bridge those gaps.
